When leaving a legacy gift to London Community Foundation, you have options for how it makes an impact. Whichever gift option you choose, your gift will support the causes you cherish most.
- Support an Existing Fund: If you already have a fund with London Community Foundation, or you wish to leave a gift to a fund established by a family member or friend, you can bequest your gift to the fund and support it’s established granting priorities. Including your Fund in your Will provides significant tax benefits while deepening your philanthropic legacy and furthering your lasting community impact.
- Create a New Fund: Your legacy gift can establish your own fund , supporting charities of your choice forever, or having its priorities managed by your named successors.
- Support the Community Fund: You can make a bequest to the Foundation’s Community Found, which grants to high-impact and transformational projects, decided on by the Foundation’s volunteer Grants Committee.
Your gift can span generations. We will help you develop a succession plan – embedded in your donor agreement and modifiable at any time – that ensures your philanthropic vision continues. You might name family members or trusted friends as successors or, choose to let the Foundation carry forward your mission on your behalf.
We will work with you and your lawyer to include some simple language in your will. We can also work with you and your financial advisor to determine what kind of gifts and structure of fund will be best for you and your heirs and executors. Lorraine was a generous philanthropist who embodied the spirit of building community. In her life, she made significant contributions to many organizations, particularly in the fields of education and health. It is thanks to her generous legacy and forward-thinking approach, that London Community Foundation is the organization it is today.
Named in her honour, the Lorraine Ivey Shuttleworth Society recognizes donors who have made a bequest or a gift of life insurance to the Foundation, honouring their foresight and generosity.
