At London Community Foundation (LCF), we believe in the power of giving to create a vibrant, smart, and caring community. Whether you are a donor looking to make a lasting impact or a non-profit seeking grant opportunities, we are here to help.

Giving & Philanthropy

Unlike charities that focus on a single cause, LCF pools donations to address a wide range of local needs—from housing and food security to the arts and environment. We manage endowment funds where the principal is invested, and the income is distributed back into the community, ensuring your gift gives forever.

You can establish a personalized Named Fund with a minimum contribution of $10,000. This fund can be named after your family, a loved one, or your business, and you can be involved in recommending which charities receive grants from it.

Yes. Donating appreciated securities is one of the most tax-efficient ways to give. By transferring stocks directly to LCF, you eliminate the capital gains tax you would pay if you sold them first, allowing you to give more to the community.

Grants & Funding

Grants are generally awarded to registered charities and “qualified donees” as defined by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) that serve London and Middlesex County. Please check our specific Grant Program guidelines for current priorities.

The Foundation’s grant programs typically are open for applications between November and March, with dates varying from program to program. Subscribe to our mailing list to get notifications from us when grants are open for applications.

This is our signature grant program aimed at tackling systemic issues through large-scale, collaborative projects. We look for innovative initiatives that have the potential to create long-term, transformative change in our community.
