The J. Douglas Earthy Community Service Award raises awareness of the vital contribution that volunteers make to the London community by recognizing the impact made by volunteers and their organizations who serve children and/or youth.

Either an organization or an individual can initiate the nomination for the award. The award recipients will have given outstanding volunteer service over a significant period of time to a children and/or youth-serving charitable organization within the City of London, Middlesex County, or a neighbouring First Nation.

The award is recognized with a grant to the organization the recipient volunteers for, and a certificate for the volunteer commemorating the award.

Application Information

The J. Douglas Earthy Community Service Award was established in 1999 to honour Doug Earthy – a long-time member of the Kiwanis Club of North London.

The recipients of the Earthy Award are selected by a volunteer committee of the Kiwanis Club of Forest City – London, who now manages the award.

The Earthy award is typically open for nominations in October, with successful nominations being notified in late November. Exact dates vary from year to year.
